WELCOME TO NOMAD CONSULTING & TRAINING SERVICES

The number of persons experiencing homelessness (PEH) has proven to become a Nationwide concern, with many cities struggling to keep up. Homeless encampments have become a normal sight in many neighborhoods, and the tensions between the housed and unhoused continues to grow.

Nomad Consulting and Training was created to help bridge the gap between the housed and the unhoused. I provide training and consulting for local businesses and government agencies who interact with homeless populations as a part of their everyday work.

Nomad Therapy Services is a certified Women Business Enterprise (WBE), Emerging Business Enterprise (EBE), Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) and a Small Business Enterprise (SBE) in the City & County of Denver.

TRAINING

Nomad provides training related to homelessness and de-escalation techniques, engagement skills, understanding encampment dynamics, mental health & addiction, burn out & compassion fatigue, and an overview of local resources. Training is customized to meet your needs and interests. The goal of this training is to reduce risk and safety concerns that may occur from negative interactions and to build confidence engaging PEH, develop a better understanding of the homeless experience and identify useful resources that may support unhoused members in your community.

Nomad has been providing homeless sensitivity and mental health & de-escalation training for maintenance workers and managerial staff with Denver’s Department of Transportation & Infrastructure (DOTI) since 2022.

CONSULTING

Nomad Therapy Services LLC consulted on the City and County of Denver’s Homeless Encampment Project under Mayor Hancock’s administration. As Subject Matter Expert, Samantha provided unique insight into the issues impacting the unhoused and acted as liaison between the Encampment Team and various stakeholders such as local non-profits, city entities and workers. Additionally, Samantha supported the creation and roll out of data collecting efforts for Denver’s large encampment response teams. These efforts were aimed at collecting necessary information to identify PEH needs and promote collaboration between direct service workers, Denver Fire Dept. (DFD) and Denver Police Dept. (DPD), city agencies and stakeholders.

WHY WORK WITH NOMAD?

I am Samantha Camerino, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and owner of Nomad Therapy Services. I’ve worked in Supportive Housing Sites and Homeless Services since 2011, both in direct practice and at managerial levels. I have firsthand experience engaging and de-escalating individuals struggling with severe mental health and addiction issues, and I understand the challenges everyday workers and community members face when encountering our unhoused neighbors. A lack of confidence and understanding can lead to unsafe and alarming consequences; developing the necessary skills to encounter homeless populations is key to everyone’s well-being and success. With over a decade of both hands-on experience and academic training, Nomad is well equipped to support individuals and workforces in their interactions with unsheltered community members. The Nomad Mission is to bridge the gap between the housed and unhoused.
